  • Safety

    There are a wide variety of chemistries to choose from when looking at advanced lithium batteries. We chose lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) because it has three advantages that make it the obvious choice for tough jobs.

    1. It is thermally stable up to very high temperatures, meaning no thermal runaway. The batteries can be used safely in ambient temperatures up to 55°C (131°F). Operating lead acid batteries at this temperature reduces their cycle life by a whopping 80%.

    2. Lithium iron phosphate provides a remarkably long cycle life, with competing chemistries being either too expensive (lithium titanate), or too unstable (lithium nickel cobalt aluminum oxide).

    3. Lithium iron phosphate provides more power and more energy density than lead acid and many other lithium chemistries, so it’s perfect for demanding jobs, and efficient energy storage solutions.

    Not all lithium batteries are created equal. There are several factors that go into creating a battery that is high-performing, long-lasting, and most importantly, safe.

  • Active Safety

    Active Safety features incorporate a Battery Management System(BMS) for each module that reports to the batteryoperating systems supervisorfor continuous monitoring. Both technologies are developed in-house to increase the focus on safety mechanisms.

  • Passive Safety

    One major factor to consider is UL certification, or at a minimum making sure the battery is designed to UL standards.

    Donfang batteries were developed to include a printed circuit board sandwich design with ultrasonic wire-bonding technology. This innovative construction prevents failure propagation and thermal runaway events. Providing two different safety solutions and the UL 2580 Listing gives you additional peace of mind.

  • Capacity

    All lithium chemistries have higher energy density compared to lead acid batteries. We use lithium-ion technology because of the dramatic increase in energy density over current lead acid battery solutions. We chose lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) because it has a specific energy of ~110 watt-hours per kilogram, compared to lead acids ~40 watt-hours per kilogram. What does this mean? Our batteries can be ~1/3 the weight for similar amp-hour ratings.

  • Speed & Efficiency

    Our lithium-ion batteries are fast. They can be fast-charged completely and can handle ultra-fast charging up to 1C (a full charge in 1 hour). Lead acid can only be fast-charged up to 80% after which the charging current drops dramatically. In addition, our battery packs maintain excellent performance under discharge rates as high as 3C continuous (full discharge in 1/3 an hour) or 5C pulsed. Lead acid experiences dramatic voltage sag and capacity reduction by comparison. In fact, the discharge profile of a lithium-ion battery shows how voltage and power remain almost constant throughout its discharge, unlike lead acid. This means that even when the battery runs low, performance stays high. There are also no memory issues, discharge and charge the battery at any point without consequence.

  • Prismatic Cells

    The differences in battery technology today allow customers to choose the best fit for their applications. Thus, lithium prismatic cells are the preferred technology for material handling equipment (MHE):

    ● Hundreds of Ah nominal capacity. The technology provides the best ratio of power and energy per volume unit. This is especially important in the high-capacity, high-current and relatively low voltage batteries used in MHE.

    ● Optimal utilization of available pack space. There are no space cavities between the cells. This allows maximum capacity for the battery pack, and still have enough room to accommodate for required extra weight, sealing, heater, internal charger or other battery upgrades within the battery compartment’s limited area.

    ● Contacts are strong enough for reliable bus-bars connection. This is a hugely important safety factor with high vibration operations, especially in cushion-tire type lift trucks.

    ● Flexible battery weight. LFB pack weight is not a limitation for most of the MHE in terms of its range per one charging (unlike passenger EVs). Like forklifts operate mostly near their charging stations and their batteries are often engineered as a counterweight.

  • Cycle Life

    Every battery cell chemistry is affected by the depth of discharge, and the deeper the discharge, the shorter the lifespan. Our lithium-ion can be discharged to 80% while still maintaining long cycle lifetimes (>3500 cycles). Lead acid batteries experience drastic reductions in cycle life. In fact, at an 80% depth of discharge, lead acid batteries only last 1000-1500 cycles, meaning our batteries last 3x longer.

    Battery Cloud Smart Reporting

    The Donfang Battery Management System (BMS) manages the lithium battery modules and continuously delivers updates and diagnostic information to the cloud. Individual modules are remotely monitored and controlled to maintain stable operating conditions.

  • Warranty Period

    For the battery, from the date of purchase, five years is provided for the warranty service.

     

    For the accessories such as chargers, cables, etc., from the date of purchase, one year is provided for the warranty service.

     

    Warranty period may vary by country and is subject to local laws and regulations.

  • Exclusions of Warranty

    1. Products exceed the warranty period without purchasing a warranty extension;

    2. Damage caused by human abuse, including but not limited to cover deformation, collision caused by impact, drop, and puncture;

    3. Dismantle the battery without Donfang 's authorization;

    4. Failure to work or being torn down in a harsh environment with high temperature, humidity, dust, corrosives and explosives, etc;

    5. Damage caused by short circuit;

    6. Damage caused by an unqualified charger that is not compliant with the product manual;

    7. Damage caused by force majeure, such as fire, earthquake, flood, hurricane, etc;

    8. Damage caused by improper installation not compliant with the product manual;

    9. Product without Donfang trademark / serial number.

  • Warranty Statement

    Distributors are responsible for the service to customers, Free parts and technical support are provided by Donfang to our distributor

     

    - Donfang provides warranty under the following conditions:

    The product is within the specified warranty period;

    The product is normally used, without man-made quality problems;

    No unauthorized disassembly, maintenance, etc;

    Product serial number, factory label and other marks are not torn or altered.

  • Claim Procedure

    1. Please priorly contact your dealer to verify the suspected defective device.

    2. Please follow your dealer's guide to provide sufficient information when your device is suspected faulty with the warranty card, product purchase invoice, and other related documents if required.

    3. Once the fault of your device is confirmed, your dealer is required to send the warranty claim to Donfang or an authorized service partner with all the necessary information provided.

  • Remedy

    If a device becomes defective during the warranty period recognized by Donfang , Donfang or its local authorized service partner is obligated to provide service to customer, the device will be subject to our option below:

     

    repaired by Donfang service center, or

    repaired on-site, or

    swapped for a replacement device with equivalent specifications according to model and service life.

     

    In the third case, Donfang will send the replacement device after RMA is confirmed. The replaced device will inherit the remaining warranty period of the previous device. In this case, you do not receive a new warranty card since your warranty right is recorded in Donfang service database.

Why choose lithium battery as a replacement for lead-acid battery?

Do The Forklift Batteries require periodic maintenance?

No, but an annual inspection is recommended by an authorized dealer to ensure maximum battery health and life.

Do I need to disconnect The Forklift Battery from the forklift to charge it?

Donfang Forklift batteries include drive away protection which does not allow the user to use the truck while charging. The battery does not need to be disconnected from the truck when charging.

At what temperature can the forklift lithium batteries be charged and discharged?

Donfang forklift lithium batteries should only be charged within the temperature range of 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F) and discharged within the temperature range of -20°C to 55°C (-4°F to 131°F).

Do the packs require watering?

No, lithium-ion batteries do not require watering. They are completely sealed and produce no gas when charging. In addition, the electrolyte is made of organic solvents, so water should not be used.

What happens when the pack runs out of charge?

Once the battery reaches 10% SOC, LED will flash notifying the operator that the battery is about to go dead. We recommend plugging the pack in as soon as the initial buzzer sounds to prolong the life of the battery.

Do forklift lithium batteries need maintenance?

Definitely not. Unlike conventional batteries, forklift lithium battery is completely maintenance free. It does not require water refilling, equalisation charging or regular maintenance, thus saving labour and operating costs.
